about the work:
Starting Point is the reconstruction of a photograph taken for documenting the ethnological objects at the Linden-Museum Stuttgart. The video-work speculates a scenario, in which the freely invented object materialies and emancipates. Staged moments and making visible their very construction are equal parts of the choreography, e.g. scenes of re-organising and preparing the studio for the filming. The original frame of the photographs is expanded with the context of its production. The work questions modes of producing objectivity in the context of an ethnological museum. How staged and performed is the documentary moment?
